Yep, it's true. I have a kid, and that makes me a mum. There are certain things and moments that really make me feel like a real mum:
- Being out for an anniversary dinner with just my hubby, dressed up a little, and hubby asks, "Did you realise you have boogers on your shoulder?"
- When Cooper wants me, and only me, to hold him.
- Sneaking into Cooper's room and putting away his clean clothes and adjusting his blankets without him even knowing I'm there.
- Reading 'Where is the Green Sheep?' over and over at 5:30am, snuggled on the couch in the dim light with my bubba.
It's an awesome privilege to be a mum.
Hehe. I was still contemplating the boogers on your shoulder (and the spew on mine) when I got to your last sentence, "It's an awesome privelege to be a mum". Sometimes the boogers and spew don't make it feel awesome, but the other moments, those precious cuddles and smiles and stuff... those moments make it feel awesome, and they make all the boogers and spew worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteAh, even the boogers make me feel special! (Yeah, I know I'm probably weird!) It's like my little declaration to the world - even though I don't have a baby with me, you can tell from my dissheveled appearance that there is a tiny little being somewhere nearby that loves me enough to share his snot with me :D
