Playtime

Cooper has started smiling!!  I was pulling faces at him a few days ago, and he started doing big smiles!  The next evening he smiled while Jason was playing with him, so I knew it wasn't my imagination.  SO cute!  And the most thrilling thing, to see him actually responding to play.

We put him under a play mat with dangly things to bat and look at.  I know it is still purely accidental collisions as he waves his arms around at this stage, but it is so much fun to watch him watching the swinging toys and smiling at them!

I like playtime now!  :-D

  1. I love it when you can actually see them staring at one of the toys and trying hard to get their arm to hit it.

Much more fun for you now. ^^

  2. I remember videoing Abby one day because I was so impressed at how clever she was to be able to focus on a toy and then control her arm enough to hit the toy. When I watched it back sometime later, it was the most boring 10 minutes of video I've ever seen (because by then she could do so much more), but I remember how exciting it was to see those little milestones reached.

  3. lol, yeah, I'm conscious of that so my mum is the only one I've subjected to the video of his playtime! It prob is boring as anything to most people, lol. That's why I'm trying to curb my FB comments as well. Everything is just SO exciting for me, though! I reckon that's one of the great things about not being a single mum, too... Jase is (almost) as excited as me, so I've got someone to share it all with :)

Hey, so I guess that's partly why there are usually less photos and videos of subsequent kids... the parents just aren't as impressed? Do you reckon that has any affect on the confidence/self-esteem/etc of the subsequent kids?

  4. Nah, what difference do they know? Besides, I'm sure you still get excited about their milestones. Maybe just not as ecstatic as the first.
